MILWAUKEE — A man is being charged after investigators say more than 100 animals were rescued from the dire condition of his home.

Prosecutors have charged 46-year-old Larry McAdoo after officers were called to his home on December 9 with a complaint of animal cruelty, WITI reported.

“I had never seen anything like it before,” Karen Suparapani, executive director of the Milwaukee Area Livestock Control Board, which received rescued animals, told WISN.

In court papers obtained by WITI, officers claimed 25 dogs, 23 birds (including chickens, ducks, parakeets, turkeys and macaws), 14 mice, 8 hamsters, 7 hedgehogs, 6 lizards, He said he found six rabbits and five guinea pigs. I have 4 cats, 4 chinchillas, 3 turtles, 2 alligators, 2 snakes, 1 goat, 1 ferret and 1 raccoon.

Rescuers told WISN that some animals, especially long-horned goats, are very difficult to remove.

“It was hard to get him out of the attic because it’s not like you can keep him on a leash,” Suparapani told WISN.

Animals were described as generally friendly and non-aggressive.

“They were all friendly and gregarious,” Suparapani told WTMJ.

Investigators said some reptiles were kept at temperatures too cold for the species and the alligators were kept in 60-gallon tanks filled with “dirty” water, WITI reports, according to court documents. did.

Turtles found in the home were “deformed” from their aquarium conditions and were showing signs of metabolic bone disease, WITI reports.

Sparapani told WTMJ that the home owner was paying people he believed were taking care of the animals.

WITI reports McAdoo told police he was helping find a dog’s home and tried to blame the condition of the home on three teenagers who “didn’t clean up.”

According to WTMJ, the property is boarded up and the door says it is unfit for living due to unsanitary conditions.
